We're taking a pause on dental education this month to discuss a cause very dear to our hearts. Amber, a 35-year-old wife and mother of two, was diagnosed with stage III Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) in June 2012. TNBC is an aggressive form of breast cancer that largely targets individuals under 40. It does not respond to typical hormone therapy.
She has gone through over 16 rounds of chemotherapy, underwent a double mastectomy in November 2012 and completed 33 rounds of radiation in March 2013, nearly a year after diagnosis. Five months after finishing treatment, in August 2013, her cancer returned to the same area and was found to have spread to the lymph nodes, making her a stage IV patient. Amber is currently on her third chemo regimen since being re-diagnosed after the first two proved unsuccessful in preventing the spread of the disease.
The cost of these treatments have been mounting and with an uncertain future, the Naughton family - Chicago area locals who currently reside in New Lenox, IL - could really use some help. Throughout her battle, Amber has remained a loving wife and mother, and a caring daughter, sister, and friend. She has maintained her awesome sense of humor and shown the tremendous strength to find the positives throughout the entire process. All donations big and small are greatly appreciated!
Details for our benefit to support Amber are below, and more information can be found on the Cancer Can Kiss It! website. Our office will be attending in full force. If you are able, we'd love to see you there! If you can't make it but still want to help, you can do so from the website. Thank you for taking time to learn about Amber's struggle and be a part of this support system!!
